i have had abusy busy week of reading, writing, and playing. after classes were over on thursday a group of us went cosmic bowling and i heard "everybody dress crazy" so my roommates and i dressed up really wacky ( i wore a onesie with rocketships on it and my roommates dressed like the eighties and such) and then we got there and we were the only ones who dressed up. but it was still fun because we just got our own lane and went crazy. and consequently did not bowl well. but we played "golf bowling" so i ended up winning well under par.
friday during the day was our women's retreat where one of our professors spoke on taking off the "masks" that we hide behind whether they be perfection, people pleasing, social butterfly. etc etc etc. it was really good and a great little retreat to get away and relax with all the girls.
saturday i woke up early and we drove about an hour and a half away with my practicum supervisor and a few other counseling students and we went spalunking (caving, if you will) compelete with headlamps and such. it was intense in that it was definitely not your traditional "cave springs" type of walking through a cave with stalagtites and mites, streams running through it, being able to stand up the whole time, and walking along lit path. we were crawling and sliding through the tiniest of spots and it was really neat to see how it could be used as a therapy session for counseling patients. it was definitely one of my favorite experiences so far!
later that night there was a "mixer" set up for the whole FFI group to get together and hang out at the student lounge and they celebrated all of the february birthdays by playing a game called "hobo fashion show" where all four of us who had birthdays were chosen to be the models of some design that was fashioned from duct tape and newspaper in the span of 20 minutes. needless to say they were impressive. and hilarious.
sunday we accidentally went to the wrong calvary chapel and consequentally sat through a rather long sermon on the apocolypse.
then we spent the rest of the day working on our big paper and presentation that was due for a special guest speaker who came from cleaning up the Tyco Industry during its big scandal in 2002. Eric Pillmore (google him) came and had us all role play various characters that were involved in the scandal. i learned a whole lot about business ethics and it basically reiterated why i am not a business major. (that's Caito's job).
i wish i had more time to talk to you all and tell you all of the amazing things i'm learning but right now i'm so busy learning it and then trying to digest it all that i feel a little overwhelmed to try and explain it all... but I woud appreciate your prayers as God continues to stretch me and mold me.
